Construction Site Safety Representative

We are seeking a Construction Site Safety Representative to support active job sites across the Mid-Atlantic region. This role is field-first and boots-on-the-ground, working directly with superintendents, foremen, and crews to ensure safe, compliant, and productive operations.

The ideal candidate understands the realities of construction and can balance safety enforcement with production demands while earning respect from field teams.

Field Safety Oversight

• Perform daily jobsite safety inspections and audits
• Enforce:
• Fall protection systems
• Excavation & trench safety (OSHA Subpart P)
• Traffic control / work zone safety
• PPE compliance
• Identify hazards and implement immediate corrective actions

Compliance & Documentation

Maintain:

• Daily safety reports
• Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) / Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
• Incident and near-miss reports
• Ensure compliance with:
• OSHA regulations
• State/local requirements (MOSH / VOSH)
• Project-specific safety plans

Training & Workforce Support

Conduct:

• New hire safety orientations
• Weekly toolbox talks
• Daily Pre-Task Work Plan design and implementation.
• Reinforce safety expectations with crews and subcontractors
• Support development of a strong safety culture on site

Incident Management

• Respond to and document:
• Incidents and near-misses
• Lead basic investigations and root cause analysis
• Coordinate with management and insurance as needed

Field Collaboration

• Work directly with:
• Superintendents
• Foremen
• Subcontractors
• Serve as a trusted safety resource, not just enforcement

Qualifications

Required:

• OSHA 30 Certification
• Strong knowledge of:
• Excavation Safety
• Fall protection
• Understanding work zone / traffic control
• Underground Utility Installation
• Ability to work full-time in the field (outdoors, all conditions)
• Strong communication skills with field crews and management

Preferred:

• CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) or working toward certification
• Experience on:
• Site development projects
• Utility installation (storm, sewer, water, dry and utilities )
• Heavy civil or roadway work
• First Aid / CPR certification
