Job Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a General Manager to assume full operational and financial leadership of an acquired business over a structured transition period. This role is designed to replace the current owner’s day-to-day responsibilities over approximately six months, after which the owner will transition into a limited advisory and sale-support role.

The business is a high-margin metal fabrication and roofing business serving residential and commercial customers throughout the Western Slope. The General Manager will own the P&L, lead the team, drive disciplined growth, and ensure the business is positioned for long-term success as part of a larger platform.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a strong operator who can both run the business and build systems.

Core Accountabilities:

• Full P&L ownership and financial performance of the business
• Successful transition of operational leadership from the founder within six months
• Leadership and development of sales, operations, and production teams
• Margin discipline, cost control, and cash-flow management
• Customer satisfaction, quality, safety, and execution excellence
• Implementation of scalable systems, processes, and reporting

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Transition

• Work closely with the current owner during the transition period to absorb institutional knowledge, customer relationships, and operational workflows
• Gradually assume full responsibility for day-to-day decision-making, team leadership, and execution
• Maintain alignment with platform leadership on strategy, reporting, and performance

Operations & Production:

• Oversee all day-to-day operations, including production scheduling, materials, labor, and quality control
• Partner with the Superintendent and Operations leadership to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and within margin targets
• Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships

Sales & Pipeline Management:

• Manage and oversee the sales pipeline and top-line team
• Support estimating, inspections, and proposals for service, re-roof, and select exterior opportunities
• Coordinate with platform sales resources where applicable

Financial Management:

• Own budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial performance
• Partner with accounting to produce accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports
• Monitor job costing, gross margins, overhead, and net profitability

Reporting & Communication:

• Maintain clear, consistent communication with team members and leadership
• Participate in regular leadership meetings and periodic check-ins (including quarterly travel to Golden, CO)
• Ensure transparency and accountability across the organization

Qualifications:

• Experience in roofing, metal fabrication, or exterior construction (commercial and/or residential)
• Proven management or general management experience
• Strong financial and operational acumen
• Ability to lead through change and assume full business ownership responsibilities
• Valid drivers license
