Job Description

A reputable Michigan-based organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Assistant to support ongoing payroll operations and compliance initiatives. This role is critical to ensure accurate payroll execution while maintaining regulatory standards and confidentiality across the organization.

Position Summary

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for the end-to-end administration of payroll for a multi-state workforce. This individual will serve as a key liaison between payroll, HR, and internal stakeholders, ensuring payroll processes are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, discretion, and a high level of accountability.

Core Responsibilities

  • Administer bi-weekly payroll processing for employees across multiple jurisdictions
  • Maintain payroll records, conduct reconciliations, and support compliance requirements
  • Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
  • Support retirement plan contributions and benefits-related payroll activities
  • Assist with internal audits, reporting, and regulatory filings
  • Participate in continuous process improvement efforts and other duties as assigned

Professional Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of payroll administration experience
  • Proficiency with enterprise payroll systems.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and employment laws
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication abilities
