About the Role

PSM is a growing commercial Plumbing, Mechanical, and HVAC contractor seeking a  Purchaser to support our project and field teams. This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials, equipment, and services are purchased accurately, delivered on time, and aligned with project budgets and schedules.

What You’ll Do

• Purchase plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC materials, equipment, and services for commercial projects
• Review material takeoffs, submittals, and purchase requests from project managers and foremen
• Issue and manage purchase orders, tracking pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules
• Coordinate deliveries to job sites, warehouses, or prefabrication shops
• Proactively track long-lead items and expedite orders to avoid project delays
• Communicate order status, delivery changes, and issues to project teams
• Work with vendors to negotiate pricing, lead times, and freight when applicable
• Resolve issues related to backorders, damaged materials, incorrect shipments, or pricing discrepancies
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and support invoice matching with accounting
• Assist with inventory control, returns, and stock material replenishment
• Collaborate with project management, warehouse, estimating, and accounting teams

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience (construction preferred)
• Working knowledge of plumbing, mechanical, and/or HVAC materials
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Excellent communication and follow-up abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and purchasing or ERP systems
• High attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with a commercial plumbing, mechanical, or HVAC contractor
• Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
• Experience with construction software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, Spectrum, Procore)
• Vendor negotiation experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
