Job Description

We’re currently seeking a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for an exciting opportunity in Thurston County, WA for the 2025–2026 school year.

Position Details:

  • Location: Thurston County, WA
  • Grade Level: Elementary
  • Schedule: Follow school district schedule, Monday-Friday

Responsibilities :

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom and school settings.
  • Interpret academic instruction, discussions, meetings, and school events.
  • Facilitate communication between students, staff, and peers.
  • Collaborate with teachers and service providers to ensure access to curriculum.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow district policies and professional standards.
  • Prepare for assignments by reviewing materials as needed.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and required trainings.

Qualifications:

  • National Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or an equivalent certification.
  • EIPA score of 4.0 or be willing to continue to work towards a score of 4.0.
  • Experience working in school-based settings preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to student-centered care and advocacy.
