This is a unique opportunity to guide a respected nonprofit at the intersection of workforce innovation, community impact, and statewide collaboration. The CEO will serve as both a strategic leader and public ambassador—advancing programs that create meaningful, lasting outcomes for individuals, families, and communities across Alaska.

What You’ll Do

As CEO, you will lead the organization with clarity, purpose, and accountability. Key areas of focus include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Partner with the Board of Directors to define and execute a forward-looking vision aligned with Alaska’s evolving workforce needs
  • Organizational Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing executive team and foster a strong, mission-driven culture
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee budgets, funding strategies, and financial performance, including public funding, grants, and contracts
  • Fundraising & External Relations: Build relationships with funders, partners, and government stakeholders while advancing donor development efforts
  • Program Impact: Ensure programs deliver measurable outcomes and meaningful impact for participants and communities
  • Community & Statewide Engagement: Represent Nine Star in public forums, legislative conversations, and across Alaska’s workforce ecosystem
  • Board Partnership: Support strong governance practices and maintain a collaborative, transparent relationship with the Board of Directors

What You Bring

We’re seeking a strategic, relationship-driven leader who combines operational excellence with a passion for community impact.

Experience & Leadership

  • 5–10+ years of executive leadership experience, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
  • Experience working closely with a Board of Directors
  • Proven success in overseeing complex operations, multi-site programs, and organizational budgets
  • Experience with fundraising, grants, and government funding strongly preferred

Leadership Strengths

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action
  • Executive-level communicator who can clearly articulate mission, inspire stakeholders, and build trust across diverse audiences
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, financial management, and organizational leadership
  • Skilled at building partnerships across communities, agencies, and sectors

Connection to Alaska

  • Understanding of Alaska’s workforce landscape, communities, and diverse populations
  • Experience working with Alaska Native communities, tribal partners, or rural populations is highly valued

Why Join Nine Star?

  • Lead a well-established, mission-driven organization with a strong reputation across Alaska
  • Make a direct, meaningful impact on workforce development and economic opportunity
  • Work alongside a committed Board and leadership team
  • Shape the future of programs that support Alaskans in achieving stability, growth, and success

Compensation

Starting compensation for this role is $150,000+, with consideration given to experience, qualifications, and demonstrated leadership impact.
