Job Title: Surgical Assistant

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio 45219

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift Schedule:

• Day Shift
• 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Job Summary

A leading healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant for a 13-week contract assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong robotic and orthopedic surgery experience and will play a key role in supporting surgeons during operative procedures while ensuring patient safety and efficient surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures
• Position patients appropriately to ensure optimal surgical exposure
• Maintain clear visualization of the operative field through retraction, suctioning, irrigation, and tissue handling
• Assist with hemostasis, suturing, and wound closure techniques
• Apply dressings and assist with drains and drainage systems
• Support complex surgical procedures under surgeon supervision
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with safety protocols
• Collaborate effectively with the surgical team throughout procedures
• Stay current with evolving surgical technologies and specialty practices

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Surgical Assisting or completion of an accredited Surgical Assisting program
• Active BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology
• Excellent technical, communication, and hand-eye coordination skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
• Recent robotic and orthopedic surgery experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as NSAA, CFA (AST), NCCPA (AAPA), or RNFA (NASC) preferred
• Minimum 4 years of Surgical Assisting experience
• At least 2 years of experience in a surgical specialty area
